REQUIREMENTS AND EXAMPLES OF SOCIAL TECHNOLOGY

Social technology must meet four principles to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs:

Simplicity:
The technology has to be easy to implement and use for the majority of the population.

Low cost:
The production costs of this technology must be relatively affordable.

Replicable:
A solution must be easily replicable in similar circumstances.

Proven social impact:
Its operation and its results must be known in advance and verified.

Social technology is common in the fields of education and health, with examples such as:
Applications to learn to read: facilitate access to reading for the little ones. These apps usually have intuitive menus, with different levels and challenges for schoolchildren to learn words and spelling in a fun way while improving their reading and pronunciation.
Low-cost baby incubators: they are very practical and of great help in developing countries, where conventional incubators are too expensive and, in many cases, difficult to fix and use due to their complexity.
